OpenCerts Digital Certificates and Transcripts
GEA Institute will be issuing diploma certificates and transcripts in the OpenCert format from 2023/2024. Students will still receive the physical diploma certificates and transcripts.
What is OpenCerts?
OpenCerts is a platform developed by Government Technology Agency (GovTech), which supports the issuance of digital certificates and the verification of the authenticity of those certificates.
OpenCerts, part of Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative, enables issuance and validation of tamper-resistant academic certificates in a convenient and reliable manner.
OpenCerts leverages on blockchain technologies using the Ethereum blockchain and is the umbrella trademark under which GovTech has released a few key components for publishing educational credentials, generating cryptographic protections for educational credentials and verifying the authenticity of OpenCerts files.

OpenCerts provides the means to verify if a document has been subjected to tampering and can be easily verified by the receiving party of such a document.
