Applied Research
What is Applied Research?
Applied research is a formal type of inquiry involving practical science applications. Applied science accesses and uses the ideas, processes, information, and techniques of the scientific community for a specific objective.
This type of research design seeks to solve a specific problem or provide innovative solutions to real world issues affecting an individual, group or society.
When conducting applied research, the researcher has to carefully identify a problem, develop research hypothesis and proceeds to test these hypotheses by an experiment. This research approach uses empirical methods in order to solve real world problems.
This type of research can be considered a direct method in seeking a solution to a problem. It is typically a follow-up research design that further investigates the findings of pure or basic research in order to validate these findings and apply them to create innovative solutions.
